Can home insulation can keep you cool in summer?

On Friday 12th June, consumer expert Harry Kind joined Morning Live to explain how Summer is as good a time as any to look at your loft insulation.

Harry explained that there are various schemes which people may be eligible for that can help towards the cost of installing insulation in your home, depending on where you live in the UK. Below you can find details and links to some of the schemes Harry mentioned. This is not an exhaustive list and there may be other schemes available.

In England, you may be able to get help for energy-saving home improvements through the Energy Company Obligation scheme. You can find more information by following this link, external.

In Wales, the Government have partnered with Nest, who can confirm if you are eligible for a package of free home energy efficiency improvements such as insulation or a heat pump.

In Scotland, you could access funding for energy-saving improvements, either through the Home Energy Scotland grant and loan OR the Warmer Homes Scotland scheme. You can find information on that here, external.

In Northern Ireland, the Affordable Warmth Scheme is directed at low-income households, and if you qualify, the scheme offers a range of energy efficiency measures. You can find out details on the NIHE website here, external.
