Tip 1: The dress - make a day of it!
High street stores are a great place to start for inspiration, but don’t overlook charity shops. Some even specialise in prom dresses. You’re also more likely to find a unique piece your teen will want to rewear endlessly. Maybe a family member might also want to “borrow” it for a later occasion…
And get a group together for the shopping trip - friends and family can be your teen’s biggest hype people. Plus, a team is more likely to snoop out the perfect bargain piece!
Tip 2: Clutch and shoes - keep it simple.
Get something gold or silver. You can find these at any major high-street retailer.
They’re versatile investment pieces that can be borrowed by anyone else in the family to complete future glam looks.
Tip 3: Hair and makeup hacks.
Beauty salons and makeup counters offer hair and makeup packages in the region of £30-£70 for looks.
But if you’re lucky enough to have a relative who’s particularly good at glam looks, enlist their help for getting ready!
A pro-tip: go for the simple look. You don’t want your teenager to regret an experimental look down the line…
Tip 4: DIY nails.
Press on nails are a game changer. You can order them online and create a look at home. They’ll give your teen that manicured look, without the hefty nail parlour price tag.
Plus, who doesn’t love an at-home pamper session?
Tip 5: Phone ring light.
They are cheap online and your teen will be able to capture beautiful, professional looking pictures on the day. They’ll also get extra brownie points from their friends for helping out with post-able pictures.
