How do you draw a golden spiral?
Have a go yourself

We’re doing the golden spiral, so we have two little boxes.
Then we always turn the paper to the right, and we do a bigger box.
And the thing is, you always add up your previous boxes here, so you say two and one, and that will give you the next box, so it’ll be a three by three.
Then we’ve got our three and our two. Three and two, that’s five, so we’re gonna have five.
And then we always add these ones up - five and three, which is gonna be eight.
And then we have eight and five, which is gonna be 13.
And then the last two numbers were 13 and eight, but…, and that’s gonna be 21.
And then let's just do this bit along.
We get our pencil, just round this way, and then we have to go round and make a spiral in the boxes. Keep on getting bigger, and then the last one is gonna be really big.
Then, I'm just gonna go over this in pen.
And there is our golden spiral, guys.
Like, golden spiral is one of my favourite things, because it’s so beautiful, and it just shows up in so many different things in nature, because my maths teacher said it could show up in like sea shells, it could show up in flowers and loads of other things in nature, so it’s really good.
What I could have done better is use a ruler, because I sort of forgot to use a ruler to do the squares, so, yeah.
Top tip: Use a ruler.
We start off by doing a one by two shape, and then we cut it in half, like so.
Twist the page 90 degrees, and then we do a two by two shape.
And we do three, and then we are done.
So now from this mini square we’ll go from the bottom right to the top left, and then from the bottom left to the top right on the square above it.
Do the same with the bigger square.
You can use a compass, which is more accurate.
And we will do an arch just like that, and we’ll do the same on the biggest square.
Go over it with a marker.
The first time I saw it on the video, I was like, ‘that is actually really cool’.
Measuring it perfectly just makes it look more clean and precise, so I’m really happy that I learnt this today.
