Police give out bravery awards | |

| | The Police have given bravery awards to two people who helped out after seeing a woman attacked in the street. |
| | | Robert McMahon and Mark Burness were given their awards for their part in catching a man who attacked a woman and tried to steal her bag.
Robert McMahon saw the attack as he was driving home from work.
Mark Burness's daughter also saw the incident and immediately told her father.
Both men immediately went to help the victim of the attack, and then chased the man who'd carried it out.
They managed to catch him and - despite his threatening and abusive behaviour - restrain him until police officers arrived.
They were able to give detailed the man later pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court to attempted robbery and was sentenced to 30 months youth custody.
"The brave actions of these two members of the public were key to the successful detention and prosecution of the offender." said Mr Paul West, Chief Constable of West Mercia Constabulary, who presented the two men with their Courageous Citizen Awards - in recognition of "their brave and public spirited actions" - in a special ceremony at Worcester Police Station.
