First may I congratulate the BBC on their efforts and quality/access to topics of the day and their General Website. Now for Grain. I lived many years near Grain (Rochester) I now live at Ramsgate. I have full and deep felt sympahty for those on Grain. I suggest Airports are important and we have to live with them but NOT at the cost of total distruction of an environmnet like Grain. Manston needs to develop, it equally has some problems and I live very near the airport. Its been there for years and would be an ideal place to develop, I think landing and take-off can be over the sea and NOT over thousands (Millions SE) of people in the Medway towns. Are the authorities mad? Manston would bring much enterprise to an area that is depleated and run down. It would put Thanet into a new phase of development. It would bring prosperity to an area starved of input for years. I realise noise is a problem, but the compensation that would have to be negotiated in this area would be minimal compared with that which would be lost and vandalized in other parts of the country.
