John Warnett: weekday mornings

Each weekday morning John Warnett will hear from Dr David Hornsby as he tries to find out which words and dialects we use in Kent and what elements make up a Kentish accent.

On Monday he introduces us to our five groups from around Kent and points out the differences as we cross the county.

On Tuesday we find out what we mean when we say we don't have an accent and why most us feel a need to put on a telephone voice. On Wednesday we discover what Received Pronunciation is and what turns that into `Posh` while on Thursday we hear how there's still a touch of the East Anglia about most of us in Kent.

On Friday Dr David will join us in the studio to give you the chance to ask him questions and hear what he makes of the way John speaks! top

Pat Marsh: mid morning

Laura becomes a ladyOn the Mid- Morning Show Pat, with the help of voice coach Anne Molyneux will attempt to turn Lol into Lady to raise the tone and put us all to shame by the end of the week.

All week you will be able to hear what Dr David has to say about the way our BBC Radio Kent presenters speak. John Warnett, Julie Maddocks, Jonathan Witchell and David Linnington all go under the Dr for a bit of language diagnosis.

And on-line you can get to grips with text speak by helping us decipher a really strange postcard!
