Within a year of entering the professional game with Hull, Hunslet-born Garry Schofield was a full British lion, making his debut as an 18-year-old on the 1984 tour. In 1985 he re-wrote the record books by scoring four tries as Great Britain beat New Zealand in a teat series at Wigan. In 1990, as vice captain, he was outstanding in Britain's series triumph against all the odds in New Zealand and then in the famous victory over Australia at Wembley. He moved from Hull to his home town club Leeds in 1987. He can currently be seen on BBC TV's Super League show and can be heard as an expert on BBC Radio Leeds.
