- Fifteen people have been taken to hospital to treat their injuries, according to the police. They were part of a group of 20 hikers went missing after the eruption
- Authorities are gathering more information about the hike, which had gone ahead despite an advisory warning against climbing the volcano.
- The volcano erupted at 07:41 local time (22:41 GMT Thursday), sending a 10km tall ash column into the sky, according to the Volcanological Survey of Indonesia
