St Helen's Church, Ranworth is known as 'the cathedral of the Broads' and attracts up to 100,000 visitors a year, many of them climbing the steps to see this panoramic view from the top of the 100ft tower. The church contains one of the finest examples of a mediaeval ‘rood’ screen in the country and an exquisite 15th century illuminated songbook, known as the Ranworth Antiphoner.
Ranworth Broad consists of two parts, the Malthouse and the Inner Broad, the latter being private property and not accessible to hire crafts. These two broads are noted especially for their wildfowl. Ranworth Broad has a good boardwalk trail which leads to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust's floating visitor centre and bird observation hide.
