Aristide Bruant

The socialist club owner questions his success. Based on characters from Toulouse-Lautrec's posters. Stars Bernard Hill.

Bernard Hill stars as Aristide Bruant and Julie Covington as Yvette Guilbert.

Aristide Bruant, in his club the Cafe Mirliton, has become a fashionable success - not what he intended.

He needs to find a new direction, and so does cabaret singer Yvette Guilbert.

Last in a series of plays by John Peacock based on the characters in Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's posters, from the time of Paris’s Belle Epoque.
