Almost waking

Verity Sharp brings a selection of adventurous music for the small and the waking hours, plus she dips into the line-up for this year’s Atonal and Unsound festival in Berlin.

As the city of Berlin gears up for The Infinite Now - a two-day joint festival from Atonal and Unsound - Verity Sharp shares music by some of the most exciting experimental acts on the bill including Joy Guidry, Aleksandra Słyż and Keiji Haino. Consisting of thirty hours of continuous programming - a journey through dusk, night, dawn, day and a second dusk - the festival will encourage its audience to sleep, rest and eat as well as to listen as the music unfolds. Taking inspiration from this overnight odyssey, Verity picks some songs of rude and gentle awakening as well as sounds for the small hours.

We'd like your recommendations for our show celebrating the legacy of American jazz icon Miles Davis (1926-1991) on his centenary on 29th May. Tell us your stand-out Miles Davis moments – some of the more unusual things he did perhaps, maybe you’ve even got a memory of watching him play – share your thoughts – latejunction@bbc.co.uk
