Blinded by love, Paula cannot see the red flags in her relationship with James, but when the police contact her out of the blue and reveal his violent past, she begins to fear for her life.
Paula meets James online and he is soon dominating Paula’s life and actions, constantly demanding to know where she is and checking her phone. At one point after an argument, he smashes through a glass door at her house after being kicked out.
After each escalating incident James manages to persuade Paula to give him another chance promising that he will change his ways.
Paula is very close to her family and they become aware of a change in her behaviour. Blinded by love Paula cannot see the red flags that her daughter and best friend instinctively know are there.
In an unusual step, the police get in touch with Paula and reveal James’ violent past, all of which she knows nothing about.
She decides to walk away but James continues to have a hold over her. He then announces he is moving to Scotland and Paula agrees to meet him one last time. When James sees her he instantly becomes jealous and follows her home, where he subjects Paula to an ordeal that leaves her fearing for her life.
