Belgium were ranked second in the world ahead of Qatar in 2022 but caused a huge shock as they failed to make it out of the group stages. A host of their golden generation may have retired, but they can still boast the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois.

Captained by Mo Salah, Egypt went unbeaten in qualifying and return to the World Cup for the first time since 2018 in Russia, where they lost all three group games. In fact, they have never won a World Cup match in their three previous appearances on the biggest stage of all.
