Ardingly 22
Charlie has two cheeky challenges for the teams at Ardingly antiques fair. Can experts Jonathan Pratt and Kate Bliss help them to get the best deals as they shop for profits?
A poster collection tops the bill in this episode from West Sussex.
In Horsham, Charlie Ross marvels at historic posters collected by local man, William Albery. Examples include an appeal for a stolen 'fat sheep', a concert to raise money for the victims of the Titanic and instructions on how to avoid catching Spanish Flu. Each poster demonstrates the bold typography and social history that Albery loved so much.
Hoping to post the biggest profit at auction is the red team, friends Kully and Arti, who reckon that 'the blues are gonna lose'. Their opponents are mum and daughter Judith and Tilly who 'are in it to win it'.
Among the stalls of Ardingly antiques fair, Kully spots colourful signs painted on scaffold boards, including one about kite flying – until expert Jonathan Pratt decides it may crash at auction. Inside, Judith spies a silver bookmark in the shape of a trowel. She’s thinking constructively - but expert Kate Bliss isn’t impressed by its lack of age.
In Buckinghamshire, auctioneer Hugo Lemon works hard for the teams, but what can JP rustle up for his bonus buy - with a pound?
