The Living Paintings Trust

David Hall, a trustee of The Living Paintings Trust, presents the Radio 4 appeal on behalf of the charity.

The Living Paintings Trust

Living Paintings opens up a magical world of stories and learning to blind and visually impaired children by creating unique tactile and audio described picture books. These are loaned through a FREE nationwide postal library to over 5,000 children.

Sharing reading to build emotional bonds

Sharing reading to build emotional bonds
For David & his son Monty, Living Paintings has meant simple moments like sharing a bedtime story can be part of their lives despite his visual impairment. And Monty loves showing off by reading to his older brother – it makes him really proud!

Inspiring a new found confidence

Inspiring a new found confidence
“Blindness is so isolating. I was overjoyed when Matilda was inspired to start ballet at school with her friends. It was all thanks to reading Living Paintings version of The Ballet Dancer. Watching her confidence blossom has been wonderful.”

Having the same opportunities as other children

Having the same opportunities as other children
Living Paintings audio tactile books help blind children learn and explore like their sighted friends. As Dan and Peter’s Dad, who is also visually impaired, said, “It gives us confidence our boys will have the same opportunities as everybody else.”
