Ann Wilddecombe, the former MP, was found dead on Thursday at her home having sustained serious injuries.
Police investigating the alleged murder of Ann Widdecombe have said there is "nothing to suggest it was politically motivated" as they continue to question a white British man who was arrested at the weekend. Asked whether Miss Widdecombe’s murder is believed to have been politically motivated, Sir Keir Starmer said the security of politicians “is of the utmost importance” but he would not speculate on any potential motive. Nigel Farage has said that "for anybody in public life, or especially the political space, things have become even more dangerous."
