Gretchen Parlato’s Flowers
Soweto Kinch presents a new week of ‘Round Midnight, sharing the best jazz from the UK and around the world. And American singer Gretchen Parlato is his guest on Flowers.
This week, Soweto welcomes celebrated American jazz singer Gretchen Parlato as his Flowers guest. Known for her melodic and luminous voice, Parlato is a notable bandleader and has performed with artists including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Esperanza Spalding, and Robert Glasper.
From Monday to Thursday, Gretchen is giving Flowers to some of the artists that continue to inspire her. To begin, she gives her first bouquet to a long-time collaborator and multi-instrumentalist that she deeply appreciates.
Also in the programme, there is music from Lee Morgan, Hana Amaya, and Nikki Yeoh.
‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
