Eisteddfod 2026

Celebrating 850 years since Wales's first recorded cultural festival, the National Eisteddfod returns to its historic roots in west Wales. One of Europe's biggest and most vibrant cultural festivals, it celebrates the very best of Welsh arts, with this year's festival taking place in Llantwd, north Pembrokeshire. It's a spectacular showcase of music, dance, literature, theatre, circus, original performance and much more.

Huw Stephens heads to Pembrokeshire to bring viewers the musical highlights and stories from across the Maes, capturing the flavour and diversity of performances from every stage – from brass bands and polished pop to classical and contemporary music.

The festival opens with a landmark performance on the rock and pop stage by Super Furry Animals, making their first Eisteddfod appearance in 30 years. There's also huge anticipation for the opening concert celebrating the music of the iconic Pembrokeshire band Ail Symudiad.

Huw also explores an exciting mix of contemporary folk, bluegrass, jazz and country at Tŷ Gwerin, including a special 50th anniversary concert by Welsh folk legends Ar Log.

He'll be there for the week's biggest competition winners, bringing viewers the standout performances from the victorious choirs, singers and soloists.
