Turkish psychedelia and whale song blues

Lopa Kothari presents the best in global folk and roots-based music, with Turkish psychedelia from BaBa ZuLa and sound artist Jim Nollman duetting the blues with his local orcas.

Lopa Kothari presents the best in new global folk and roots-based music. We hear an offering from leading lights of the Turkish psychedelic resurgence, BaBa ZuLa, whose latest album distils Anatolian traditions through dreamlike narratives and unconventional song forms. Malian guitar virtuoso Habib Koité and Gambian kora maestro Sura Susso come together for a collaborative album celebrating the enduring legacy of the griot tradition. Plus, a big blue blues from sound artist Jim Nollman, who spent years duetting with the orcas near his home in British Columbia.
