An in-depth weekly conversation focusing on a topical issue in Africa. In this episode, Focus on Africa: The Conversation looks at acid violence on the continent.

Doctors in Nairobi, Kenya, recently sounded the alarm over a risk in acid attacks. Since the beginning of 2026, several attacks across the country have made national headlines - with young women among those most often targeted. The issue is also a concern elsewhere in Africa. In Uganda, UN Women has raised concerns about the number of acid attacks reported in recent years.

Hosted by Nkechi Ogbonna, this episode features 36-year-old Benta Ouma from Kenya and 30-year-old Obanye Frances Chizoba from Nigeria, who have both suffered acid attacks. They join Nkechi to discuss living with their scars, overcoming the trauma and rebuilding their lives.
