Thee Sinseers Trunk of Funk

Stuart Maconie sits in with Joey Quiñones from East LA soul collective Thee Sinseers on the show. Led by Joey, Thee Sinseers are part of a new generation carrying forward the rich tradition of Chicano soul, drawing on the music they grew up with while creating a sound that’s firmly their own.

Their new album Love Stories explores love from all sides, from falling head over heels to heartbreak, regret and second chances.

Joey tells us about the stories behind the record, growing up surrounded by the sounds of East LA and the joys and occasional complications of making music with a band that can number 11 people.

Thee Sinseers take over the Trunk of Funk with a selection that traces some of their musical roots, including El Chicano, War, Brenton Wood, Thee Midniters, Cannibal & The Headhunters and Sunny & The Sunliners.
