The eclectic classical mix

Take time out with a 30-minute soundscape of classical favourites, including music by Elgar, Bernstein and Handel.

Today's 30-minute sequence commences with the gentle and calming combination of Clarinet and Piano in Composer Camille Saint-Saens's 'Sonata in E flat major Op 167' before venturing to the Bavarian Highlands in an arrangement for Chorus and Orchestra of Edward Elgar's 'On the Alm (Op 27 No 5)'. The sequence concludes with the captivating sound of Rebecca Clarke's 'Daybreak'. You get there via a reflective moment in Leonard Bernstein's 'A Quiet Place', taken from the 1983 Opera of the same name, the elaborate playing of George Frideric Handel's 'I Know that my Redeemer Liveth (Messiah Part 3 No 43)', and a beautifully pensive piece from film composers Anthony John and Alexandra Harwood taken from the movie 'The Escape' called 'Beginning at the End'.

Produced by Sam Harding.
