Stevie Wonder's 'Songs in the Key of Life' album turns 50!

Dr. Beat is also on hand to prescribe a perfect tune for a listener in need. Plus The Good Groove celebrates 50 years of Stevie Wonder's album 'Songs in the Key of Life'.

Stevie Wonder's 'Songs in the Key of Life' turns 50! The joyful, spiritual, socially conscious celebration of Black life, love, family, faith and humanity is wrapped in some of the most sophisticated soul, funk, jazz and pop music ever recorded. Spoony shares some of his favourite tracks from Stevie's life-affirming masterpiece, songs that remain as relevant and uplifting today as they did in 1976.

Spoony’s alter-ego Dr Beat is also on hand to prescribe a musical pick-me-up for a lucky listener. Whether your Monday has gone spectacularly off the rails, you’re recovering from an eventful weekend, or you simply need a track to mark a special occasion, get in touch for a 'telephone consultation' in exchange for the perfect tune to match your situation! Text 88291, WhatsApp 08000 288 291 or e-mail spoony@bbc.co.uk.

Our genial host serves up a brilliant selection of classic soul, disco, soulful house, R&B, funk, UK garage, reggae, hip-hop, doo-wop, yacht rock and more. He unveils his New 2 Spoon record of the week, and there's no guessing which artist will be sitting in the Midnight slot tonight!
