BBC Food & Farming Awards finalist: Bronagh O'Kane

Mali Harries visit the third of three finalists in the Farming for the Future category at this year's BBC Food and Farming Awards.

Bronagh O'Kane took on her 70-acre family farm in County Tyrone when her father started struggling with Parkinson's disease. Almost at once, she started making changes - switching from Continental beef cattle to smaller, native breeds and diversifying her pastures with herbal leys. As she learnt more about regenerative farming she started searching for other like-minded farmers and ended up helping to found "Fields Good" - Northern Ireland's regenerative agriculture festival.

Bronagh came to farming relatively late after a 12-year career fixing fighter jets as an engineer in the Royal Air Force, followed by a stint founding and running a homeware design company. She says her past life informs her current farming - being a problem solver and a team a player perhaps led to her work bringing farmers together to share knowledge.

Bronagh's been chosen as one of three finalists in the "Farming for the Future" category in this year's BBC Food and Farming Awards. Now, it's judgement time!
