We’re off to Rio for this week’s Trunk of Funk, with Ed Motta at the controls. Ed has spent more than 35 years moving between soul, jazz, funk, bossa nova and boogie. His Trunk of Funk digs into his record collection with tracks by Zapp, Con Funk Shun, Enchantment, David Peaston and Sounds of Blackness, and a taste of his new album.
‘Toc-Toc’ is his first album in Portuguese in over a decade. He made it alone in his apartment with a drum machine and a bass synth, chasing the tight electro-funk he grew up hearing on Brazilian radio.
