The Rowton Meteorite
A remarkable event unfolded over Shropshire 150 years ago when an unusual meteorite plunged from the sky and struck the fields near Rowton. On April 20, 1876, the 3.5-kilogram "Rowton Meteorite" came hurtling to Earth, burying itself in the ground and writing itself into the history books. A plaque has been unveiled this week to mark the anniversary.
