TV and radio presenter, and celebrity MasterChef contestant, Jason Mohammed joins Matt Tebbutt to unpack the stories behind his basket of bread, parsley, sprouts, and salad cream.
TV and radio presenter, and celebrity MasterChef contestant, Jason Mohammed joins Matt Tebbutt to unpack the stories behind his basket of bread, parsley, sprouts, and salad cream.
Jason explains why cutting out bread made him the most miserable he's ever been, why he'll put absolutely anything between two slices, and how nothing ever went to waste in his nan's kitchen - including the leftover sprouts that ended up in a post-Boxing Day turkey stew. He talks about growing up in Ely with a Welsh mum and a Pakistani dad, breaking fast at Eid with a table full of lamb keema, and using the kitchen as his one place of peace (guests firmly not welcome!).
From the nine-year-old writing football match reports in his school exercise book, with his teacher urging him to write about anything else, Jason shared the story of how his dreams came true years later when John Motson said his name on air. Plus he shares the tale of the best salad of his life in Paris, a Georgian pastry in Sochi, and Jason and Matt have a heated debate about which ketchup brands are acceptable.
