Charlotte's volunteered for youth group for 25 years

Charlotte Blanchard from Bournemouth started the Space Youth Project in 2001 - a Dorset based LGBT+ group to support young people.

Twenty-five years later and Charlotte continues to support young people, volunteering thousands of hours through her youth work, and securing funding for the charity as a dedicated co-chair of the board of trustees.

Charlotte is one of the finalists in the Volunteer category in the BBC Radio Solent Make a Difference Awards for 2026.

Charlotte has been speaking to Steve Harris.
