Herefordshire's first osprey chicks in 200 years
The birds of prey were once driven to the brink of extinction. A breeding pair have been sighted nesting at an oak tree near the River Wye on the Powys border.
Toby Fountain from the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust says that the news represents a remarkable turnaround for the species, who have been known to fish in the Wye, as well as the Rivers Lugg and Arrow.
It is thought that the pair had established themselves in the county in 2025.
