Tarby's in full swing
A funny, curious and gloriously chaotic look at sport and the stories that surround it.
Here is part 2 of this week's Socially Distant Sports Bar with Mike Bubbins, Elis James and Steff Garrero. In place of the usual "Documentary of the Week", Steff's picked an absolute gem from the "Golden Age" of TV game shows. Jimmy Tarbuck's "Full Swing" is a glorious car-crash of a golf-based, general knowledge-adjacent game show with rules the audience have to work out for themselves as it goes along (and if that doesn't make you want to watch it immediatley there's something wrong).
Elis' book choice is "The Spectre of Pep : How Guardiola Haunts Modern Football" by Jon Mackenzie. It goes over Pep's tactics and philosophy, it's effect on the top leagues in Europe because everyone plays a version of it, and how "playing from the back" is what teams do, even at lower non-league levels.
