Militants have been battling the Mozambican army around Palma for days
In Mozambique authorities say dozens have been killed in a major assault by Islamist insurgents on the town of Palma in the north-east of the country.
Sudan’s government and rebel SPLM-North group have signed an agreement separating state and religion. The move has been seen as a crucial step in paving the way for peace negotiations between the two sides.
And, The Gambia is set to perform its first knee replacement surgery at the country's medical facility in Banjul.
