Derek Chauvin trial brings racism back into focus

The trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin over the killing of George Floyd, which began in Minneapolis in the United States on Monday, is triggering fresh trauma for many Black Americans. The BBC’s Larry Madowo has been speaking to activists in Minneapolis.

Plus, archaeologists working in the Kalahari desert have found evidence of what they call “complex symbolic behaviours” in humans, which date back 105,000 years, much further than previously known.

And doctors in Nigeria have begun an indefinite strike, demanding that outstanding salaries be paid.
