Colonel Mamady Doumbouya becomes Africa's second-youngest head of state
Guinea has sworn in Colonel Mamady Doumbouya as president of the transitional government and he has promised to respect the West African state’s international commitments whilst the country transitions to civilian rule.
Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari in a speech to mark Independence Day has agreed to lift the national ban on Twitter, but only if certain conditions are met.
There has been international condemnation over Ethiopia's decision to expel seven senior UN officials. Ethiopia accuses the UN of meddling in the country's internal affairs, which the UN denies.
