Sierra Leone's Auditor General is fired

Shock and consternation in Sierra Leone over the decision of President Maada Bio to fire the country's Auditor General, Lara Taylor-Pearce. FW de Klerk, the last white person to lead South Africa and a key figure in the transition to democracy, died of cancer at the age of 85. Liberia's opposition leader, Joseph Boakai, says he'll try to run for the presidency for the second time in 2023. Sierra Leonean student Jeremiah Thoronka is awarded $100,000 for winning the 2021 Global Student Prize.
