Women from the Olympics and Formula 1 on improving sport sustainabilty

From the pitches we build to the stadiums we fill, the world of sport can have a huge impact on the environment. The biggest sporting events in the world bring joy to millions of people, but that comes at a cost. As the climate crisis intensifies, can the sporting world become part of the solution?

Julie Duffus is Head of Sustainability at the International Olympics Committee, based in Switzerland, and played a key role for games including London 2012, Rio 2016 and Paris 2024.

Ellen Jones is Head of Environment, Social and Governance at Formula 1, overseeing everything from green fuels in cars to solar-powered food stalls at race events.
