Love on Trial: India’s Age of Consent Controversy follows journalist Brishbhanu Baruah as he examines how the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act — in force for over a decade to safeguard minors from abuse — is working in practice. He meets young people, families, lawyers and lawmakers to understand why some consenting young couples are still being drawn into the criminal justice system. And he asks whether the law is operating as intended, or if parts of it now need to be reconsidered.
