Bruce Dickinson talks 50 years of Iron Maiden!
The Rock Show with Shaun KeavenyAvailable for 28 days
Iron Maiden are one of the most successful British bands ever...its hardly surprising after a fifty year career and more than 180 million albums sold worldwide! The band has its origins in Leyton, East London - formed by bassist Steve Harris in 1975. After riding the crest of the 'New Wave of British Heavy Metal' at the end of the 1970s, they steadily built a solid fanbase with a tireless work ethic and minimal mainstream radio airplay. By the early 80s, original lead singer Paul Di'Anno was on his way out and Samson frontman Bruce Dickinson was on his way in. Fast forward to now and after a few more line-up shuffles along the way, Maiden have kept their place at the top of the British heavy metal tree. They're celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2026 with a brand new career-spanning documentary, called 'Burning Ambition' which premiered in the UK this week. Shaun chats to lead singer Bruce Dickinson about the band, the fans, the new film and their upcoming 'Eddfest' gig at Knebworth in the the summer. Produced by Listen Entertainment for BBC Radio 2
