Steve has brand new music from Mystery Jets, Fat Dog, Theatre and Bloc Party and 30 years on from their debut album going to Number 1, Tim Wheeler from Ash talks us through their massive hit Girl From Mars. Plus, Steve welcomes The Molotovs to the Maida Vale studios for a live session. The band - siblings Mathew and Issey Cartlidge play live for Steve in support of their debut album Wasted on Youth which reached number 3 in the UK on its release in January. The pair are still in their teens – 17 and 19, but were raised on their parent’s music - “That older music was ingrained to our memories, because that was what was played in the car since we were kids,” says Matt. “That’s how we gained the love for that sort of music, all those bands from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, and then explored it properly on our own.” Vocalist Mathew expands upon on the band’s influences: “Musically, our influences stem from greats like The Jam, Green Day, and The Sex Pistols. Sonically, we aimed for the band to reflect our adoration of the late 70s and early ‘80s new wave/mod revival.”
