Tonight, Soweto shares performance highlights from rising stars Knats, recorded at Cobalt Studios in Newcastle on Saturday 2nd May. Knats are one of the UK’s most exciting new bands. They’re a quintet led by two lifelong best mates from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Stan Woodward (bass) and King David-Ike Elechi (drums), alongside their younger sidekick and virtuoso trumpeter, Ferg Kilsby. Their “Geordie Jazz” sound combines blistering jazz fusion with drum ‘n’ bass style percussion, punk intensity and gritty spoken word poetry, and their debut album “A Great Day in Newcastle” is out now. ‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
