Maynard James Keenan from Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer presents an hour of his favourite dark music, featuring Siouxsie & The Banshees, Marvin Gaye, Depeche Mode and more. Maynard James Keenan is the enigmatic, shape-shifting frontman of Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. Each of these bands has a unique sound and lyrical content. His first success came with Tool. They formed in 1990 and rose to prominence with their 1993 album 'Undertow'. They've only released a further four albums since, the most recent 'Fear Inoculum' in 2019, and have developed huge cult status. He formed A Perfect Circle in 1999 with guitarist Billy Howerdel. They've released four albums to date, the most recent 'Eat the Elephant' in 2018. Maynard formed Puscifer around 2003 as his "creative subconscious" and released their first album "V" Is for Vagina in 2007. They most recently released their fifth album 'Normal Isn’t' in February this year. Forever Dark is 6 Music's weekly exploration of dark music across all genres and eras. The music you hear is predominantly sonically dark but will also delves into dark content and lyrics. Each genre has dark elements within it and this programme attempts to touch this broad, wonderful and powerful spectrum of music. Come join us on the dark side, where all are welcome.
