On 5 August 1914, the first electric traffic signal was installed at the corner of Euclid Avenue and East 105th Street in Cleveland, Ohio in the US. The colours red, amber, and green were borrowed from the railway signalling system, which had used them for decades before they were adapted for road use. So we're celebrating this by doing a Traffic Light Themed Thursday Theme!
