Red warning for Herefordshire & Worcestershire

Need To Know Hereford & Worcester

Available for over a year

Only the second-ever such warning the Met Office has issued, get the latest on the extreme heat and humidity, with more than 60 schools closed in our area alone. Temperatures in Herefordshire and Worcestershire could reach 35 degrees Celsius, with West Midlands Railway reducing its timetable and advising passengers to only take rail travel if necessary. Not all schools are closed, such as St Egwin's Middle School in Evesham, where Head Teacher Andy Collard and Assistant Head and Designated Safety Lead, Louise Sage explained the measures they've taken which mean they can stay open. For a full list of school closures, visit the Herefordshire County Council and Worcestershire County Council websites. Image credit: BBC Weather Watchers/Saza
