A lost Hull trawler, a storm-battered Icelandic fjord and a century-old mystery are at the heart of this remarkable story. When Hull resident Yvette Holly uncovered unexpected Icelandic roots through a DNA test, her search for family led her to Bárður Jón Grímsson, an Icelandic fisherman whose family had preserved the nameplate of the trawler Pamela since it was wrecked in Iceland in 1915. With the help of maritime historian Dr Alec Gill MBE, the story of the lost vessel, its crew and the enduring connections between Hull and Iceland was finally brought back to life, proving that even the smallest relic from the past can bridge generations, countries and families.
