Sheila Jones, from Llangaron near Ross-on-Wye, set up a group to support her neighbour who had been widowed. They are easy-going and based out of Sheila's kitchen or holiday cottage, based around sewing as an easy thread of keeping people together. Sheila has ensured that, over a decade on, her group has expanded beyond measure, combining still regular sewing meets with group trips, fostering an incredible sense of community for women in Herefordshire. Sheila is a finalist in the BBC Hereford & Worcester Make A Difference Awards 2026, in the Great Neighbour category.
