Judy King always knew her mother Helga Wolfenstein once loved a man called Peter Kien. Helga and Peter were Jewish artists who had met and fallen in love in the Terezin concentration camp in Czechoslovakia during the World War Two. Peter was an established artist before the war and when he was imprisoned at Terezin Peter was forced, alongside Helga, to draw up designs for the camp for the Nazis. But in secret, Peter also sketched life around him. Knowing the Nazis would confiscate the personal artworks, Helga hid them in a suitcase which she stored in the infectious diseases ward of the hospital. Peter entrusted Helga with the suitcase before he was taken to Auschwitz where he died. Helga had lost the man she loved, and keeping hold of his artwork became paramount. But after liberation in 1945 the suitcase was seized by the Communist authorities and Helga would spend the rest of her life trying to get it back. Her daughter Judy would eventually succeed. Sheena Wellington is a renowned Scottish folk singer who told Outlook's May Cameron how music has shaped her life. Growing up in Dundee, Sheena was surrounded by music and song that told stories about the city and its people. The women in her family worked in the jute weaving mills where singing was a way to pass the time. Sheena began singing in folk clubs, embedded herself in the scene and eventually hosted a folk music show on the radio. What followed was a career that has spanned decades with perfomances around the world and at home, including at the opening of Scotland's Parliament.
