BBC Radio Stoke Virtual Tour

Operations Area

Operations

We've just come out of Studio 1, and this is the view on the way to Studio 2 (just through the glass). In the pic, Ros Chimes is working on the day's programme and Steven Rice, one of Radio Stoke's justly-famous phone answerers, is dealing with a listener's query.

The Ops Room, as it's better known, is the engine room of any on-air programme, and is always situated just the other side of the door into the live studio.

Here, the back-up team (producer, assistants, reporters, and programme guests) will all assemble, ready to spring into action to help the presenter as soon as needed.

Engineer is... where?
One of the most important members of staff is the station's radio-engineer Roger Crick, who's always on call, and keeps the whole place ticking over.
However, we can't show you him.
His office is in the basement, the only office down there.... and nobody ever goes there. Eek!

Moving on swiftly...
Let's leave Ros and Steve to it. So, skip around them - to find someone extraordinary...
