ITV Academy | Continuing Drama Writers Initiative Continuing Drama

ITV Academy is inviting new and emerging writers to help shape some of Britain’s most iconic streets and villages through the Continuing Drama Writers Initiative. This three-month, full-time paid development opportunity offers experience within the storytelling worlds of Coronation Street or Emmerdale. Participants will work alongside storyliners, writers and script editors, contributing to multi-episode storylines and helping to craft stories for established series.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- At least one paid experience writing for film, television, audio drama, theatre or online content (for example: theatrical drama or audio drama).
- A strong interest in continuing drama storytelling.
- Strong written communication and attention to detail.
- The ability to work to deadlines and respond to editorial feedback.
- An interest in creating stories that reflect the experiences and communities of modern Britain.
- Able to demonstrate a diverse voice and alternative view of modern Britain for a range of characters in continuing drama.
The programme is based in Manchester or Leeds, with a closing date of 2 July. Applications are open via ITV Careers
A virtual “Meet the Team” session will take place on 18 June, offering application tips and the opportunity to hear from the editorial team. Sign-up is open until 16 June, with questions invited via Sli.do using #OriginalVoices26.
