Book Week NI 2026, will take place between 19-25 October
Book Conversations Everywhere for Book Week 2026!
The BBC and Libraries NI have confirmed the dates for Book Week NI 2026 – which will take place between 19-25 October.
Book Week celebrates the benefits of reading and the role that libraries play in community life.
Activities and events will be taking place across the library network and there’ll some special BBC programming as well.
Book Week-themed resources have been created for local schools (including posters, bookmarks and bunting) and the BBC’s airwaves will be filled with book recommendations and stories.
Mark Simpson, BBC News NI’s Community Correspondent, says: “In my day job, I report on an ever-changing world, but reading for me is a constant – helping to provide perspective, escape and sometimes light relief. I am delighted to be involved with Book Week once again. It’s a great initiative with something for everyone. You might even call it a 'novel' idea, and there’ll be plenty to look forward to in October.”
Mark Adair, BBC Northern Ireland Head of Corporate and Community Affairs, says: “Book Week is made possible because of the BBC’s enduring partnership with Libraries NI. It’s a community-wide celebration of books, reading and libraries and everything that they make possible. We want Book Week 2026 to be even bigger than before and are encouraging schools and other organisations to get involved - sharing book recommendations, organising special events and getting along to their local library.”
