Corsican polyphony and wild Scottish jigs

Lopa Kothari presents folk and roots-based music from around the world, with Corsican ensemble L’Alba, Scottish quartet Dàna and picks from Warsaw Village Band’s Maciej Szajkowski.

Lopa Kothari presents the best in folk and roots-based music from around the world. On her travels this week, she comes across the interweaving voices of Corsican ensemble L’Alba, captured live on their new album Vivu, where Corsican tradition meets influences from across the Mediterranean. Also, Swedish-Senegalese collaboration Wau Wau Collectif return with Teranga, the final instalment in their cross-cultural trilogy, and Glasgow-based traditional quartet Dàna pay tribute to the wild landscapes of Scotland. Elsewhere in the show, ahead of Warsaw Village Band’s performance at the Polish Jazz Festival, founder Maciej Szajkowski shares two tracks: one that he encountered on the road and another that reminds him of home.
