Summer on the festival trail

Kathryn Tickell looks back on a summer well spent, picking out highlights from folk and roots-based artists she encountered on festival stages at home and abroad. Along the way, she reflects on performances by traditional Breton pipe band Bagad Cap Caval at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, Iranian folk ensemble Rastak at Rudolstadt Festival in Germany, and an all-stars ceilidh led by English melodeon player Simon Care at Sidmouth Folk Festival.
